Printable 6th Grade Sight Words Worksheets

Sight words are words that don’t follow rules of spelling or the six types of syllables. These words have to be memorized. Students are taught to memorize them as a whole, by sight.
Ex: Come, Does, Who, What …Etc…

Sight words are very important for your child to master. They promote confidence. Because the first 100 sight words represent over 50% of English text, a child who has mastered the list of sight words can already recognize at least half of a sentence. Sight words help promote reading comprehension.

Those words provide clues to the context of the text. If your child is familiar with the sight words, she may be able to decode the meaning of the paragraph or sentence by reading the sight words.

In sixth grade, there are plenty of words that you need to learn. Not only will you be expected to know how to spell these words, but you will need to know what they mean as well.
